Vision Statement #2

“God’s Vision for us is to: Uplift the importance of the preaching of a Righteousness by Faith in all the churches”

Several years ago while I was Secretary of the Minnesota Conference I was visiting with a struggling pastor who was being criticized by his church for preaching too much grace and not enough law and prophecy. The pastor asked how we could preach both Righteousness by Faith and the Three Angels’ Messages as if they were opposites. I believe God gave me the answer to his question. I said, “The Three Angels’ Messages are Righteousness by Faith on adrenaline

The Thee Angels’ Messages give the urgency to Righteousness by Faith. They are not opposites, but on the same team. The Three Angels’ Messages bring urgency to us and compel us to share a crucial message for our world!

Ellen White supports what I shared with the pastor.

“Several have written to me, inquiring if the message of justification by faith is the third angel’s message, and I have answered, ‘It is the third angel’s message in verity” (The Review and Herald April 1, 1890).

Righteousness by Faith for Mission & Vision

Our Vision document urges us to bring Righteousness by Faith to all our churches. This means that we should be preaching our last day message to our communities. We need to preach Daniel and Revelation. We need to preach the law and Sabbath. We need to share the state of the dead and Healthful living. But all of these need to be bathed generously in the hope we have in our only source of salvation. These truths point all humanity to the only way we can become justified with a Righteous God. It is through the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross.

How joyful is our message! How full of hope! Our assurance of eternal life is not based on what we do or how much we deny ourselves, it is based on the Who we know and that One is Jesus!

Too many of our members and too many of the people around us, our friends, neighbours, and work associates, do not understand this joyful truth. Too many are struggling in their own meagre strength, hoping to become good enough for God to accept them. They try to keep the commandments and yet fail.

In the book Christ Object Lessons by Ellen White, page 311, we read,

“Only the covering which Christ Himself has provided can make us meet to appear in God’s presence. This covering, the robe of His own righteousness, Christ will put upon every repenting, believing soul. “I counsel thee,” He says, “to buy of Me … white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear” (Revelation 3:18). This robe, woven in the loom of heaven, has in it not one thread of human devising.”

Through faith we accept the righteousness of Christ. Then through His power we are changed.

“It is not the fear of punishment, or the hope of everlasting reward, that leads the disciples of Christ to follow Him. They behold the Saviour’s matchless love, revealed throughout His pilgrimage on earth, from the manger of Bethlehem to Calvary’s cross, and the sight of Him attracts, it softens and subdues the soul. Love awakens in the heart of the beholders. They hear His voice, and they follow Him” (Desire of Ages, p. 480).

Oh the vastness of the Love of God! We must uplift the importance of the preaching of Righteousness by Faith in all our churches, schools, and out into all our communities!

Lord bless!
