The Conference Board of Directors voted on Mar 11 to initiate a new “Small Church Network” to to better serve smaller, isolated, lay-led congregations in Man-Sask.
The idea is to assign a pastor to coordinate and provide pastoral support for congregations in the Small Church Network. We envision this would involve sharing sermons and many other resources including children’s stories, mission stories, equipping seminars, and much more.
In addition, it would create a network to allow interaction between smaller churches. The intent is not to replace ministry by local church members, but to supplement it with resources and coaching by area pastors.

The Board voted to assign Pastor Douglas Pereira to lead this new initiative full-time. His strong background in media and resource development will greatly assist this new venture that will enable us to support new and growing churches as we seek to double our attendance and double our churches.

Dave Wiens is Head Elder of the Pembina Valley Church, one of the churches expected to benefit from the Small Church Network.

“As a leader of a small lay led church, I believe that this Small Church Network will be a great blessing. The ability to share with other small groups and create a sense of community will give us the ability to strengthen one another. The fresh new resources may bring a new vitality to small, sometimes struggling congregations.”

Stay tuned for more details in the coming months.
